Getting a job in today’s economy is tough. Imagine trying to get a job in today’s economy if you have a history of drug addiction. It’s definitely not easy. However, if you’re clean and sober now and looking for work, there are some jobs out there for you.

The best jobs that you can get are the ones which will allow you to leverage your experience with drugs into a positive thing. For example, you could work in one of the Florida drug treatment centers. People who have experience with Florida drug treatment make great Florida drug rehab counselors. And if you’re not qualified to be a counselor, you could get a job as support staff.

Alternatively, look towards jobs that require only basic skills and which don’t require too much interaction with people. It’s sad but true that employers who are hiring for people-work positions (especially positions working with kids) are really wary of those applicants who have a drug history. In contrast, jobs working with computers are good options for people with this kind of history. Build up some credibility with those jobs and then you can move into a better position as time goes on and the economy improves.

I am absolutely loving my degree.  I never imagined how fulfilling it could be to pursue a creative career.  I had been spending so much time on my finance major and I couldn’t believe how hard it was, and how stressed out and upset it was making me.  My heart wasn’t in it, but I thought that I was the career for me; I should have realized earlier that yes, there are those days after a party when you just don’t want to get up, but if you can’t stand to go to class every morning, you’re studying the wrong subject.  I feel like I can breathe easier in photography, and I’ve never found any place as relaxing as the dark room.  This week we’re studying commercial applications of photography, and how to print photos on to pretty much any item.  We’ve made photo throws, a picture blanket, and custom pillows (Christmas is now taken care of!).  It’s just so much fun, it doesn’t seem like so much work.  I’m really enjoying myself, and I didn’t realize how much more powerful and effective you can be when you aren’t stressed out. I think this the start to living a life that is really and truly mine.

My friends and I just came back from a vacation in Hawaii.  It was amazing!  It was absolutely beautiful.  We basically spent two weeks lying on the beach.  My job is really stressful and I definitely needed the break.  I even went parasailing, which was a little scary but I loved it.

Everything is really expensive but it’s worth it.  Especially if you only talking about a vacation for a week or two.  I doubt very much that I’ll ever get to go back so I figured that I might as well live it up a little.  Everything seems better in Hawaii.

I even found this amazing suntan lotion while I was there.  I mean, if you’re looking for tanning lotions, what better place to look than Hawaii!  I bought it on impulse because it was called Booty Butter.  My friends and I thought that was hysterical.  I’m really glad that I got it though.  It smells wonderful and it really made my skin soft.  I normally don’t tan very well but, at the end of the two weeks,  I had a gorgeous, even tan.  I even think that I got a little darker than I usually do.  I definitely tanned more quickly than usual, which made the vacation even nicer!
