The technology associated with hearing aids is rather amazing if not almost unknown to most tech geek types. Since self proclaimed technology afficianados usually focus on computer and electronics, they don’t tend to spend much time in the area of health care related technical devices.

If nothing more than the sheer awesomeness of most hearing aids sizes, one has to marvel. Micro electronics have reduced the average hearing aid size by hundreds of percent in the past 25 years alone. If similar advances were made in say cellular telephones, they would be about the size of a postage stamp.

Another aspect of the technology behind hearing aids is the power delivery system. Power consumption has been reduced to bare minimal requirements, mostly due to solid state technology. Impressive advances in the batteries have also contributed to the hearing aid being an amazing device. If those postage stamp sized cell phones were powered in the same fashion as today’s hearing aids, they would operate about 3 months on a single charge.

Clearly not all industries share their technology. While there may be some understanding to why this happens, one can only imagine how great our world could be because of the advances in treating hearing loss.

With so many scares coming in the way of international commerce as it relates to consumer products that are imported into this country, I started wondering where my dog toys where actually manufactured. The last thing I would want to do is place my pets in harms way just so I could save a buck or two.

Two things, right up front:

1. I’ll never, ever get a toupee

I suppose there are other things I should not do as it relates to the impending doom of my onset bald headedness! But those two are the big ones.
