Protecting Your Career

There are some people who work at jobs. And then there are people who work at careers. Lawyers, dentists, doctors … these are people who invest a whole lot of time and money to get the education that they need to be able to work in their chosen professions. It would make sense, then, that these people need to go to extra lengths to protect their careers.

For example, a lot of people who have jobs will get disability insurance. People who have careers should get this insurance, too. However, they should get liability insurance specific to their careers. (Dentist disability insurance or physician disability insurance, for example.) This type of insurance recognizes that you lose a lot more when you can’t work at a career than you do when you can no longer do a job.

The investment that you make in your career should not stop with your education. It should continue on through every decision that you make which is in any way related to your career. You should make sure to always think about the fact that you have already invested so much and that you don’t want to do anything to lose out on that investment.
