You are in school. Maybe you are almost done with your degree. However you keep thinking about changing your major. Should you do it?

Here are five signs that you should change your major:

1. You are failing all of the classes that you need for your major. Maybe you can’t handle the work after all. Maybe you just don’t like going to class. Or maybe you are sabotaging yourself. Whatever the reason, if you are failing your core classes then you might want to change majors.
2. You are bored with your core classes. Even if you are doing well in school it’s a really bad sign if you are bored in your core classes. It means you may get bored in your career. You don’t want that so change your major now and enter a new career field.
3. You are jealous of other people’s majors. If you find yourself envious of the students who are in audiology programs or online physician assistant programs then it’s a good bet that you probably want to switch your major to one of those degrees.
4. You are very curious about other majors. This shows that you might not be ready to commit to completing your degree. Learn more about other degrees before you make a decision.
5. You don’t know why you chose your major. If you never had a good reason or can’t remember what the reason was then you aren’t in the right degree program.

Though I would like to congratulate all of my fellow graduates, truth be told, only about five of them truly matter to me.  You see, those five people, Jesse, Lisa, Melissa, Jake, and Kyle were there with me these past four years, through study sessions, working on homework and working on those big projects.  Yes, I would have to say if it wasn’t for them, I don’t think that I would have graduated.  They were just that important in the big scheme of things.

So, I thought that I would find the perfect gift for them to celebrate their graduation.  Sadly, we are all going to different parts of the country, so it might be the last time that we see each other, so I wanted to give them something to remember our time together.

I had been looking at some diploma frames for them, and I was able to pick out a university diploma frame for each of them.  I hope they like the ones that I picked out, and I hope that they like the picture I gave them of all of us together.

I know that right now it isn’t a big deal but maybe ten years from now, they will look back at the picture of us, and I hope that a smile comes to their face.  They are the best friends that I have ever had in my life.  I am going to miss them.

Though most people go through life never finding their calling, thankfully for myself, I figured it out at an early age.  I had a knack for finding great real estate investments and I have owned over one thousand properties through my business.  But I knew deep down in my heart that I wanted to teach someday, and I was finally able to realize my life’s purpose at the young age of forty five.

In fact, after overcoming the nervousness of teaching my first real estate investing training class, I felt the need to do more.  Sure, I was going to be able to help many people out with the classes that I would teach, but I also wanted a more personal connection.  I wanted to have the opportunity to work one on one with some of my students and help to shape them into better investors than they ever thought they could be.

So, I decided to offer my second batch of students the opportunity to participate in a real estate investment coaching program to broaden and hone their skills as investors.  There were only five people that took me up on the offer, and now, just one year later, all but one of them is doing very well in real estate.

Some people ask me if teaching is a lot of work, but since it is my passion, it only seems like fun to me.

In a world where time is very clearly money, you want to prove your worth by being able to show knowledge of what is being developed, and by producing the maximum output in the least amount of time. This will virtually guarantee you success as you consider a new job or career.

My second son is graduating from Douglas County High School on May 22, and I’m so proud!  I thought this time might be less emotional and exciting than with my first son, but not true!  This one is graduating with an International Baccalaureate Diploma, he’s been accepted in the CU Boulder school of Engineering, and what’s more, he received a $10,000 Engineering Merit Scholarship.

My first son surprised me by assuming he could have a reception for his friends afterward at our house (I couldn’t even stay for it!) so I want to be prepared this time.  And I’m thinking that it would be neat to decorate the basement ceiling with little led Christmas lights.  I’ve been wanting them for awhile, but couldn’t buy a whole new set for the xmas tree quite yet (you can’t really mix old twinkle lights with led lights on the same tree) but I’m thinking that these lights should be a lot cheaper this time of year.  And if they’re not, I’ll just get mini lights. 

I wish I could think of something else that’s cool and modern for decorations, but to be honest, I haven’t been to any tastefully decorated parties in some time.  Short of just watching 90210 or Real Housewives of Orange County, I don’t get any exposure to the latest decorating ideas.  Anyone want to share some with me?
