How to Get a Better Night’s Sleep

At some point or another, almost everyone has had a tough time sleeping. Whether the problem is falling asleep, staying asleep, or sleeping comfortably, there are a few steps you can take to make sure your night is a restful one.

Watch your diet. Cut caffeine out. If you must have a cup of coffee, make sure have it earlier in the day. And definitely cut out ALL sugars after the sun goes down.

Create a relaxing environment just before bedtime. Have a routine. Take a bath. Read ten pages of a book. Then try to catch some Z’s.

Make sure your mattress doesn’t need to be replaced. The average mattress lasts up to ten years. If yours is older… it’s time to invest in a new one. Your body will thank you.

Of course, some sleep problems require intervention from an expert. For example, if habitual snoring and breathing interruptions are your problem you may have a condition known as sleep apnea. Only a doctor can tell you for sure.

But if this is the problem, then there’s one very good piece of advice….

Try a CPAP machine. These devices have an air pump, tubing and a CPAP mask for either your face or just your nose. Just hook up to the sleep apnea machine every night and you’ll soon notice a huge difference.
