Daily Dog Walk

While walking my chocolate brown Labrador Retriever on a beautiful California sunny afternoon, he broke off his leash in a Marley and Me type moment and ran after a cat (is that so cliché). I couldn’t believe the experience because we did graduate at the top of our class in Petsmart’s doggie obedience school.
I raced after him scolding all the way, “Bad doggie, bad doggie, come back here!” Those were not the words we were trained with at school but I could utter nothing more convincing in my shocked state. I finally caught up to my pooch in front of a pawn shop in Los Angeles. I was exhausted and realized I better start running at the gym again if a simple game of chase is going to wear me out. It was probably being so tired that made me lose my coordination and I tripped over my naughty dog’s leash with a goofy flop to the ground.
Anyone and everyone who wanted to sell gold in Los Angeles seemed to be out on this day because I had a gaggle of people staring at me in the parking lot. Why couldn’t they choose an online pawn shop on this particular day? I really didn’t need a huge audience for my face down flop.
